The roots need room to breathe, and excess water needs an escape route. That's why the growers' plastic pots come with holes – to allow excess water to drain! Most people simply place the growers' pot directly into the decorative one they bought with the plant. When your plant and pot arrive, all you have to do is unwrap the packaging, and you're good to go!
